Indigenous Literacy Foundation

When you partner with Allura Partners, you help Indigenous kids have a better future

It’s crazy to think that in today’s world, where the majority of kids have access to information at their fingertips, many Indigenous children don’t.

As a result, only 34% of Indigenous students in Year 5 meet the minimum national reading standards. This is compared to 95% for non-Indigenous students [2017 NAPLAN]. While the situation’s improving, there’s still a long way to go.

That’s where the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) comes in. It was set up to close the literacy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students across Australia.

But, there are challenges to this

Apart from the historical, health, social, and educational disadvantages Indigenous communities face, many of them also don’t have access to books – particularly in remote communities.

Supporting the ILF means supporting the work they do:

  • Raising literacy levels in the community through Book Supply. An initiative that gifts quality books to organisations in remote communities

  • Gifting children under five the right books, written in their own language through Book Buzz in WA

And publishing books in different Aboriginal languages – from Walmajarri in Kimberley to Arabana in South Australia, and Kriol in Katharine - through the Community Literacy Projects.

As a team that’s driven to see others succeed, this is a charity that truly resonates with us. And we’re honoured to support the important work the ILF does in the community.

As a sponsor of ILF, we hold fundraiser events throughout the year to help the foundation reach their goals. If you’d like to learn more or keep up-to-date with these events, we’d love to hear from you: enquiry@allurapartners.com.au.
